The Wonderful 101! It was different from most of the games I played this year, but in a fantastic way. The game was somewhat challenging (especially when facing new enemies), and it was was just really fun and quirky! Plus, who doesn’t love silly super heroes?

I loved a lot of other games but I really was able to enjoy this one with my brother.

Nearly can’t decide between Ys Memories of Celceta, Bravely Default or Tales of Xillia, they were great games and did not disappoint. I was floored by the fun I had while playing.
Xillia was the first Tales of with a really dark story and yet good humor in it to lighten up the mood and at the same time it seemed like an homage to Symphonia, Destiny and Abyss. The characters as well as the world-design … both were absolutely charming. Despite being a bit disappointed by the back-step to the old battle system or the tad too easy difficulties ToX was the one game this year I do not regret buying.

Same goes for Ys for PSVita, I was honestly surprised to see it so well made. Falcom really put a ton of work in it and I loved every minute of the game. The design, the landscape and the step into 3D were all really well done. I’m honestly very proud that I were able to play those two games.

As for Bravely Default, that soundtrack, those designs and the choices the player is able to make regarding the battle options and the sweet little world it plays in were nearly perfect. It had it’s flaws, some might think that the battle system was too slow but given that it was never intended to be really crazy paced it’s okay. And the Soundtrack is really nice as well, Sound Horizons Revo really put his all into it.

Guess overall (since there can only be one) Xillia takes the cake, just thinking about some skits makes me smile, plus I’ve yet to finish Bravely Default.

We had some really nice RPGs this year didn’t we~? *swoon*

Tough choice, so many good games came out this year, but since I have to pick one, my vote goes to Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. No other game gave me that freedom of exploration that I feel games have been sorely lacking as of late. (Especially Zelda games)

(it’s really an under-appreciated gem! sure, it takes some time to get used to the quirky characters and art direction! sure, it takes some time to get used to the controls (drawing the various morphs) but once you get the hang of it, it is one of the most solid games I’ve played! it really brings me back to the time where games are really just all about fun!)
